From Patrick Bateman to Batman

Well I went and finally got to check out Batman Begins last night. I try to see most comic book films. I'm not a CB dork by any means, I have bought CB's on a regular basis since I was 10 but I'm a sucker for the movies. But most of them suck ass as the last two Batman movies did. They are the best example of how not to make a superhero film.

So onto the newest Batman installment....

In a word: Amazing! I loved it. Christian Bale is by far the best Batman, he was not over the top, but was emotional when necessary, something that Keaton and Kilmer never could muster. Christopher Nolan did a great job of storytelling and the backstory of Bruce Wayne how he became Batman and where he got all those awesome toys is explained in a very informational and entertaing way. The supporting cast was quality and didn't take away from the story like some of the past films. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Wilkinson and Cillian Murphy were all fantastic. Gary Oldman (whom I love, for his seediness he seeminly brings to every character) was a tad miscast but I enjoy watching him on screen that I was able to forgive. Katie, my dear, you just didn't cut it. Not for a 2nd did I believe you to be a D.A. Pieces of April performance = good. Everything else = bad. Well you were decent in "The Gift" but that had nothing to do with your acting really.

I walked out of the theatre with a feeling I hadn't felt in a long while after seeing a big hollywood film. And that was of complete joy. I hope the Chris Nolan signs onto to do the next one as does Mr. Bale. If this proves to be the case I'll be there on opening weekend next time. Grade: A

Before the movie I headed to a new sushi restaurant, Yoshida-Ya at Webster/Union in Cow Hollow. I was impressed. The Decor and Service were good and the sushi was better. The New York Roll with Shrimp and Apples was very good. It's definitely a restaurant I'll hit again.

Currently I'm counting down the hours 'til the weekend. It's my first one in the city in a long time. And I'm excited about it since I have got no plans as of yet.
